Born in Switzerland, Raquel Alvarez first graduated in Law, though she spent the first years of her career working as a model. After moving to Brazil, she went back to school to pursue a degree in fashion design, and proceeded to work as a fashion designer for a few of Rio’s most loved Brands. With this experience came Wymann, her own brand, born after years of research and soul-searching, and from her belief in fashion as a way of expressing oneself.
Only a year after the launch, Wymann and its simple, perfectly crafted and adjustable pieces have already captivated both the national and the international markets. Raquel’s minimalism fits perfectly with the contemporary woman’s hybrid lifestyle, going from office to party with just a minor twist.
The designer currently works at her own studio in Rio, the city she chose to live in and which inspires her constantly; though her clothes will always have an international and timeless feel to them. Wymann has teamed up with a few big names in Brazilian fashion, such as Ipanema, and has been featured in Vogue and other major publications as a brand to watch.
Ultimately, Raquel’s pieces invoke a simple elegance, bringing out the best in each woman and allowing them to shine.
