Oskar Metsavaht’s participation in the creative exercise for the movie Soundtrack was the starting point to develop Osklen’s Winter 2017 lineup. The inspiration did not come from the movie itself, but from its concept and during the script writing process, creating a rich imaginary world while the authors and directors gathered the film crew (set designers, cinematographers, costume designers and artists). At the same time Oskar and his design team developed their concept for the season, the movie and the collection were made.
The visual references, from a trip to Iceland, along with the readings of the movie script, unfolded the elements of color, shapes and textures of the collection.
The movie portrays an artist that leaves to a research station in Antarctica in search of a new meaning to his art.
Metaphorically, this same atmosphere has marked the beginning of Oskar Metsavaht’s creative process. While preparing for a scientific expedition to the Andes in the late 1980s, Osklen’s creative director designed his first piece, an utilitarian snow jacket. Working as an orthopedist at the time, his knowledge in anatomy and ergonomics, along with his artistic abilities, already indicated Osklen's future path.
The science, the art and the nature in the movie script create a synergy between the beginning of the history of the brand and Oskar Metsavaht as an artist.
