ABEST launches prospective mission in Australia

From January 29th to February 5th, the Brazilian Fashion Stylists Association, through Fashion Label Brasil - ABEST's Brazilian Fashion Internationalization Program in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments) - visits Australia to conduct a study on the country's beachwear market.

During the trip, ABEST's trade intelligence team will visit shops, local brands and government agencies in the cities of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, as well as hold meetings with key organizers of major trade shows and industry events such as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

"The Australian mission is suppose to identify competitors, potential points of sale and partners, as well as to research this market’s peculiarities for the project’s brands,” says Paulo Lourenço Bartholomei, ABEST’s president.

According to a research conducted by Euromonitor International, the Australian beachwear market reached US $ 621.1 million in 2016, with an average annual growth rate of 0.7% between 2017 and 2020. Women's swimwear remained as the main category, with a contribution of 64.3% of sales in 2016, while men's swimwear totaled 26.0%. Brazilian exports of swimwear to Australia reached US $ 46,909 in 2016.

"Although beachwear is the primary focus of our research, the mission will also identify opportunities for other segments of value-added fashion, such as apparel and accessories," says Lourenço.
