Fernando Jorge and Lapima open up a joint showroom in Brazil
Oskar Metsavaht's Osklen has just been announced as one of the winners of the 2019 CO Leadership Awards, becoming the first Brazilian brand to win a title that recognizes innovative brands, suppliers, communities and organizations in the sustainable fashion industry.
CO is a business network that leverages technology to boost success in sustainable fashion businesses, and the CO Leadership Awards recognizes the 10 leading disrupters who are innovating in creativity by combining great products and services that maximize benefits for the people and minimizing impacts on the environment.
In addition to Osklen, brands such as Stella McCartney, Bottletop and Raeburn were also awarded, chosen by special guest judges and companies such as Vogue Australia, GQ, Farfetch, Vivienne Westwood, Roland Mouret, UN Conscious Fashion Campaign and Kering, among others.
The award criteria, which encompass business and sustainability, are based on six categories: mission, business model, products, services, impact and referral.
"We are recognizing businesses that are pioneering good practices in the fashion industry from beginning to end in the supply chain, from established players to next-generation innovators. Our goal is to reward companies that are taking a leading role - and encouraging others to do the same. We are delighted with the quality and variety of the candidates for these inaugural CO awards," said Tamsin Lejeune, CO’s CEO.
The international award should work as reference for brands - including Brazilian ones - in favor of a more sustainable fashion. The international title reinforces the commitment pioneered by Osklen in partnership with the Institute- and for more than 20 years in promoting a circular economy with the use of more conscious and sustainable raw materials, in line with the philosophy ASAP (As Sustainable As Possible | As Soon As Possible).
